In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxMissouriS&T, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxMissouriS&T event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
Founded in 1870 as the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, S&T was the first technological institution west of the Mississippi River. One of four campuses in the University of Missouri System, the name was changed to the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1964 and to Missouri University of Science and Technology, or Missouri S&T, in 2008.
Missouri S&T is one of nation's leading research universities. Located about 100 miles west of St. Louis in the community of Rolla, Missouri S&T is an accessible, safe and friendly campus surrounded by Ozarks scenery. Missouri S&T offers degrees in engineering, the sciences, liberal arts, humanities and business, with master's and Ph.D. programs available in many of the science and engineering programs and master's degrees in biological sciences, business administration and technical communication. With nearly 9,000 students enrolled online and on campus, Missouri S&T is big enough to accommodate a diverse population but small enough for individuals to stand out.
